British Chocolate

Chocolate Week, an annual event in London, began on Monday and will continue through October 22. Thanks largely to Chantal Coady, whose Rococo shop on King's Road first offered ganache-filled bon-bons as an alternative to violet creams in 1983, British chocolate can now hold its own against anything you'll find on the other side of the English Channel. This year's lineup kicked off with a showcase of the UK-based artisanal producers L'artisan du Chocolat, Paul A. Young, William Curley, Chococo, Melt, and Demarquette. Other events include tastings that pair chocolate with wine and tea, and talks by Chloe Doutre-Roussel and Sara Jayne Stanes.

Rococo was where I discovered chocolate. Valhrhona Manjari and truffles made with it, normandy cream and calvados. Everything in that shop is so good.
